RF-Radiofrequency (VNUS) Closure® is an ultrasound-guided procedure for treating varicose veins. It is an outpatient procedure that is painless, has no scarring and allows for immediate recovery and normal activities within hours of the treatment.
After applying a local numbing agent, the doctor makes a tiny incision in the leg above the affected vein and inserts a tiny catheter. The doctor guides the fiber to the affected vein and delivers radiofrequency (RF) heat energy to the vein wall. As the RF energy is delivered the catheter is slowly withdrawn until the total area is treated. A small bandage is placed over the tiny incision and you’re done.
Your body naturally reroutes blood through one of the many healthy veins in your leg, which improves circulation, relieves leg pain, and improves the appearance of your legs.
VNUS provides immediate relief from leg discomfort caused by the unsightly bulging veins, and you can resume normal daily activities as soon as your leave the clinic. Only rigorous activities like gym workouts and long distance running are off limits, and then only for a few weeks.
