Dr. James L. “Bo” Johnson II, MD, FACS

Dr. Johnson, founder of the Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic, is a board-certified general surgeon and was the first physician in Montana and Wyoming to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology (click here to view a press release). He began performing Endovenous Laser Therapy in 2004, and has successfully performed over 6,000 of these endovenous ablation procedures. Dr. Johnson, a third-generation physician, is known for his dedicated and compassionate care of patients and for his medical professionalism. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology. Dr. Johnson believes strongly in giving back and dedicates two weeks out of each year to travel to third-world countries to provide a full range of medical care. Dr. Johnson and his wife Deborah, a pharmacist, have four children and reside in Cody, Wyoming.

Dr. Bryan Potter, MD
Dr. Bryan Potter, MD

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Bryan Potter joined RMVC after practicing most recently in Chicago, Illinois. He completed general surgery training at Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati, followed by a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Upon becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS), Dr. Potter practiced in rural Oregon and Washington where he provided a broad range of general, head and neck, thoracic, trauma, gynecologic, and vascular surgical care. Subsequently, Dr. Potter relocated back to the Midwest where he elected to devote himself entirely to the management of varicose vein disease. Since 2012, he has earned the nationally recognized certifications in diagnostic ultrasound of registered vascular technologist (RVT) and registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI.) He is also certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM.) When not attending patients, Dr. Potter enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including whitewater kayaking, horseback riding, camping, hiking, and scuba diving.

Dr. Michael Orcutt, Vascular Surgeon, Great Falls
Dr. Michael Orcutt, MD

A native Montanan, Dr. Michael Orcutt was raised on the family farm east of Conrad. He attended medical school at the University of Washington, surgical training at the University of Texas San Antonio, and performed his vascular surgery fellowship in Pennsylvania. In 1985, he returned to North Central Montana to practice general and vascular surgery in Great Falls. In 2004, he began utilizing endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) and other minimally invasive techniques to treat varicose veins. His sole focus is to provide the highest quality care to patients suffering from varicose vein disease. In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. Further, he is certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, a member of the American Venous Forum, and a registered vascular technologist (RVT). Dr. Orcutt and his wife Lisa, an RN, live in Great Falls with two Labrador retrievers. Hunting, fishing, traveling, and camping are some of Dr. Orcutt’s other passions.

Ben Hoffman, PA-C, Physician Assistant
Ben Hoffman, PA-C, Physician Assistant

Ben was raised in Eastern Montana, and has lived in Billings since 1991. He has worked in healthcare for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse and Physician Assistant. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Ben is also a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants. He joined RMVC in 2009 and assists with initial patient evaluations, VNUS, EVLT, Microphlebectomy, and Sclerotherapy procedures. While Ben finds his work at RMVC rewarding and challenging, he enjoys a rich life with his wife Julie, hunting buddy Sage (English Setter), many kids, and grandchildren. When not at work, he's generally out hunting, fishing, skiing, or exploring the backcountry of Montana and Wyoming.

Lacy Bangert
Lacy Bangert, Practice Administrator

Lacy is a native of Montana. She grew up on her family ranch in the Central Montana town of Grass Range. After graduating from Grass Range High School, Lacy attended the University of Montana in Missoula. While attending U of M she competed on the University of Montana rodeo team. She graduated from Missoula with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Health Science. After leaving Missoula, Lacy moved to Billings to pursue her Master's Degree in Health Administration, which she graduated with in the fall of 2008. After working in the medical field for 5 years Lacy joined the Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic team in December of 2011. In her spare time Lacy enjoys spending time with her husband and family, rodeoing, working on the family ranch, and helping her husband working for his construction company.

Kristi Richardson
Kristi Richardson, Office Manager

A Montana Native, Kristi Richardson grew up in Bozeman. In 2002, she moved to Billings, where she worked for Billings Clinic and attended MSU-Billings. Concurrently, she also worked for American Medical Response while earning her EMT certification. She has over 13-years of experience in the medical field, including being a Marketing Director for long-term care. In 2015, Kristi joined RMVC as our Billings Office Manager. In her spare-time she enjoys gardening, fishing, camping, and spending time with her family.

Sarah Ryan, Registered Nurse, ASN – Billings Office
Sarah Yarde, Registered Nurse, ASN

Sarah attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Montana before completing her studies and graduating from Montana State University – Billings in 2005, with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing (LPN). A member of the American College of Phlebology, Sarah is a native of Billings, and has been with RMVC since August 2006. She returned to school in 2008 to become a Registered Nurse, and graduated in 2010 with an Associate of Science degree in Nursing. She is our resident expert in ensuring the proper selection, sizing, and fit of our compression stockings. She also performs sclerotherapy and assists with RF ablation, Endovenous Laser therapy, and microphlebectomy procedures. She also helps head up our sister company, Avri Laser Aesthetics, in Billings and is a Certified Laser Specialist and Obagi Skin Care Consultant. Sarah enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time with her family.

Mary Derbyshire, Medical Assistant
Mary Derbyshire, Medical Assistant

Mary has worked for RMVC since December 2007, and brings with her 38 years of working in the medical field—both in patient care and billing. She assists in the front office on clinic days, and is part of the surgical team on procedure days. A Montana native, Mary grew up in Havre. She and her husband have lived in Billings most of their married life. Her son and daughter-in-law also live in Billings, along with two wonderful grandchildren.

Tana Willems, Medical Assistant

Tana is a native of West Yellowstone, MT. She attended school at Northwestern College in Powell, WY and MSU-Billings. She has worked in the medical field for over 10 years before joining RMVC in March of 2012. In her spare time Tana enjoys reading, baking, playing volleyball, and spending time with her family and friends.

Melanie Tolman, Receptionist

Melanie was born in Dickinson North Dakota. She moved to Billings when she was 8. She attended MSU-B. She has been in the medical field for over 20 plus years working as a receptionist/secretary. She is married with two boys and entourage of animals. Melanie enjoys helping her husband with his business, remodeling her house, arts and crafts of many varieties, camping, fishing and the company of her friends and family.

Carol Cunningham, Medical Billing Director

An Arizona native, Carol attended Glendale Community College and received an Associates Degree in General Business. In 1981, she and her husband relocated to Billings, Montana. Carol brings over 30-years of experience in insurance and patient billing. She joined the RMVC team in October of 2015. In her spare time, Carol enjoys snowmobiling, four-wheeling, gardening, and attending both Bronco and Avalanche games in Denver, Colorado.

Laurie Petersen
Laurie Petersen, Office Coordinator

Laurie was born and raised in southern Minnesota. After working as an office manager for an
orthopedic group for 14 years, she chose to relocate to Montana. In Bozeman she continued her
medical career for 5 more years and then took a break from the medical field to attend culinary school
where she graduated with honors. After spending 7 years in the food industry, she has returned to the
medical field as our office coordinator in Bozeman. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her
husband, gardening, hiking, camping and of course cooking.

Jessica Stutts
Jessica Stutts, Physician Assistant

Jessica is a native Montanan, raised on her family's farm/ranch in the Missouri River Breaks near Winifred, MT. She received her B.S. degree in both Horticulture Science and General Science Education from MSU with high honors. She then taught junior high and high school science for two years in Byers, CO, while her husband trained in dentistry. Transitioning to medicine, Jessica completed the University of Colorado's Physician Assistant program. In 2011, she and her husband Adam relocated to Bozeman, MT, where he joined his family's dental practice. Prior to joining Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic, Jessica worked as a Physician Assistant for the Billings Clinic in rehabilitation medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs, attending concerts, exploring the western outdoors, and maintaining her orchid collection.

Holley Woosley Vennes, Medical Assistant

Holley is a native of Montana and grew up on her family’s ranch in Wilsall, where she and her husband Tyler, and daughter Teah currently live. She attended the University of Montana-Western and majored in Health and Human Performance. Holley has worked as a Medical Assistant for the last 8 years. In her free time Holley loves to spend time with her family, work on the ranch, teach skiing, ride horses and organize Ranch Rodeos in the area.

Jennifer Williams
Jennifer Williams, Physician Assistant

Jennifer graduated from Hastings College in Hastings Nebraska with a B.A. in math and biology. She then attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she was Valedictorian of her Physician Assistant class. Having grown up in an Air Force family Jennifer was born in Montana, raised in Nebraska and feels most at home in the West. Jennifer loves being able to raise her 3 children in the small-town atmosphere of Cody with her husband Cris, a High School science teacher at Cody High.

Before joining Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic, Jennifer worked as the Physician Assistant with Dr. Steve Mainini at the Cody Clinic. Outside of work, Jennifer is a volunteer health care provider at Heart Mountain Volunteer Clinic and is also a children’s ministry leader at her church.

Deborah Johnson , Pharm D, Clinical Specialist

Deborah graduated from Creighton University in 1992 with a Pharm.D. She has practiced in a variety of settings, including Retail Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy, and as a Clinical Pharmacist on the Renal Transplant Team at the University of Wisconsin. Most recently, she was an Adjunct Professor/Clinical Consultant at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. Deborah was involved in the establishment of Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic and is involved in patient care. Much of her time is spent raising four children.

A Wyoming native, Cindy moved from Casper to Cody in 1998. She began working with Dr. Johnson in his surgical practice in 1999, and has worked for Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic since its inception. When not at the office, Cindy enjoys fly-fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Shana Weiss
Shana Weiss, Medical Assistant

Shana is a native of Muskegon, Michigan where she graduated from Ross Medical Education Center as a Medical Assistant in 2010. She moved to Cody shortly after and joined our team. Shana is a Certified Laser Specialist and also assists Dr. Johnson with Endovenous Laser Therapy and Radiofrequency Ablation. Her hobbies include hiking, photographing wildlife, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.

Ginger Christie
Ginger Christie, Nurse - LPN

Ginger grew up in Wisconsin, and received her nursing degree from WCTI, with honors.In 1977, she moved to Cody, Wyoming, where she became the Assistant Nursing Director for the Long Term Care of West Park Hospital for two-years. She then did a three- year stint in Internal Medicine, where she had the pleasure of working with Dr. Lew Johnson, Dr. Bo Johnson’s late father. From there she spent 27 memorable years with Cody Family and Billings Clinic Cody. Ginger joined the RMVC family in June of 2012. Her experience qualifies her to work in many areas of nursing, including assisting Dr. Johnson during vein procedures. She truly cares about her patients’ health and wellbeing. Ginger spends her free time divided between her children, grandchildren, church, and community. She also enjoys traveling to art shows around the country with her husband Reid.

Angela Nelson, Office Coordinator

Angie is a native of Northern Montana, but relocated to Cody, Wyoming, in 2006. She has many years of experience working within the medical communities of Cody and Powell, Wyoming. Angie joined RMVC in June of 2012, and is enjoying the opportunity to learn a new aspect of medicine. Her hobbies include;camping, four-wheeling, spending time with her family, and reading.

Jill Betz
Jill Betz, Office Manager & Clinical Coordinator

Born and raised in upstate New York, Jill moved with her Air Force husband to Great Falls when he was transferred here 1991. She attended college at Great Falls College, Montana State University where she received an Associates Degree in Science degree in the medical field. She has worked as a medical scheduler and office coordinator since 1996. She enjoys
helping her husband at his wine store but mostly she enjoys her grandchildren, baking, gardening, and crocheting.

Julie Perrin, LPN

Julie grew up a military brat, but has been a Montana resident since 2007. A graduate LPN from MSU Great Falls in 2012, Julie has been working in the Vein Clinic since then! She also works as a nurse at the Cascade County Detention Center in Great Falls Montana a few times a month. She lives in Great Falls with her husband and 4 kids. Together they also own and operate BlackedOut 406 Limousine Service. Julie enjoys spending time with her family, bowling, exploring Montana, and advertising for their business!

Michelle Dillon, RVT RDMS RDCS RT(R)

Michelle is a native of Billings. She attended ultrasound school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She has been registered in ultrasound since 1991 and holds registries in Vascular Ultrasound, Adult Echocardiography, Abdomen, and OB/Gyn. She lives in Billings with her husband Jerry and their four boys. Michelle is the owner of Big Sky Ultrasound LLC, which specializes in vascular ultrasound screening and provides all the ultrasound services for Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic in both Montana and Wyoming.

Amber Rittal
Amber Rittal - BSRT(R) M CT, RDCS

Amber was born and raised in eastern Montana. She earned a B.S. degree in Radiologic Technology from Minot State University and has worked in healthcare since 1995 as a radiologic technologist and sonographer. She started with Big Sky Ultrasound and Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic in 2011. Amber enjoys spending time with her family at their cabin near Flathead Lake, hiking in Glacier Park, skiing , boating, reading , and antique shopping.

Laura Sullivan-Russett
Laura Sullivan-Russett RVT, RDCS

Laura was born and raised in Bozeman, but left MT for Los Angeles in 2001. While in LA Laura discovered a passion for the medical field and attended ultrasound school, where she graduated with special academic acknowledgement and was offered her first job at her clinical training site. After gaining experience in vascular ultrasound and earning her RVT credential, Laura left Los Angeles and worked as a traveling vascular technologist in hospitals around the country, including UC San Francisco and Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore, MD. Laura then spent three years living on the gulf coast of Florida and working in a vascular surgery practice where she gained extensive experience in the treatment of venous disease. In March of 2012, Laura was able to return home to Montana for good when she joined the staff at Big Sky Ultrasound. Laura is happy to be back in MT where she enjoys going running with her husband and mother and is an avid football fan.

Jamie was born and raised in southwest Minnesota. He graduated from the Vascular Technology program at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, SD with honors, earning his A.S. degree. During that time, Jamie completed his clinical internship at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. After completing his internship, Jamie worked at Altru Health hospital in Grand Forks, ND as a member of the Vascular Medicine and Radiology team. He joined the Big Sky Ultrasound and Rocky Mountain Vein Clinic team in June 2013. Jamie enjoys sports, hiking, fishing, hunting and spending time with his 3 children, enjoying the wealth of outdoor activities and adventures Wyoming has to offer.
